Energy-Balance

A timeless combination of old and new – rooted in classical structure yet stylized in its simplicity, and elegance of form.

The vitality of the body in action.
The celebration of the human spirit.

My sculptures are designed for longevity using modern materials beginning with a steel support framework which is layered with combinations of metal, foils, cement, and epoxy clay. The finished surfaces are cold bronzed and often embellished. Attention to detail, surface design and craftsmanship are unique aspects of my work. They adapt well to interior and exterior environments.

Together, we will figure out how to create a piece that will last.

For over twenty years I’ve been teaching my figurative sculpting process at the New Haven Art School as well as a local high school and my private studio. I consider myself a facilitator rather than a didactic teacher and encourage students to come with a project idea.

My goal is to make each student successful and to take pride in their accomplishments. I enjoy sharing my ideas and experience and I am available to anyone who’s interested.

Decades of Dedication

WNPR’s Diane Orson interviewed me about my work and produced this video showcasing my process.

My greatest creative achievement:

The Sculpture Garden

My wife Susan and I have been developing our two-acre property since we moved into our house 52 years ago. The grounds contain perennial gardens, extensive stone pathways, ponds, fountains, and over 75 sculptures – all blending together to provide a sense of everchanging wonderment. We love to share our gardens and we welcome our friends and neighbors to enjoy this unique environment.
